Shocking footage shows Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar weakly tossing a piece of wood at an Israeli drone just moments before his death.

An Israeli drone captured the final moments of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar’s life, as the Oct. 7 mastermind swung a piece of wood in a futile attempt to down the drone before he was killed, officials reported.

The footage shows the drone being deployed to investigate a building in Rafah, which had been targeted by IDF soldiers. An injured Sinwar, his face covered, was seen sitting alone on a couch in the destroyed building, unaware that the soldiers were looking at the very man they had been pursuing since he orchestrated the October 7 terrorist attack on Israel.

When Sinwar finally spotted the drone hovering nearby, he desperately tried to throw something at it to conceal his location. The soldiers then ordered a second strike on the building, resulting in the deaths of Sinwar and two other Hamas members traveling with him.

After retrieving the body and matching it with DNA samples collected while Sinwar was a prisoner, officials confirmed his identity. IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari stated that Sinwar had likely been injured in the hand and was taking refuge in the building when it was attacked.

Hagari noted that Sinwar was likely attempting to flee north as the Israeli military advanced in Rafah, a region where many Palestinians had sought refuge earlier in the year.

Sinwar’s death has been described by U.S. and Israeli officials as a significant blow to Hamas, potentially paving the way to end the war in Gaza and facilitate the release of the remaining 97 hostages taken on October 7.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the people of Gaza, stating, “This war can end tomorrow. It can end if Hamas lays down its arms and returns our hostages. Israel will guarantee the safety of all those who return our hostages.”
